About SWAM

We are the largest independent and undercover aircraft museum in Wales. Based in the heart of South Wales, a few miles from Cardiff. Our aim is to Inspire and educate the younger generation and to provide a place of reminiscence and interest for the public. More than just a museum, we offer interactive exhibits and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.

Experience the thrill of flying in our flight simulators, sit in the pilot seat of some exhibits, or take a guided tour. Our knowledgeable volunteers can bring the history of aviation to life with many engaging stories and insights.

What to expect when you visit us

At the South Wales Aviation Museum, you can enjoy an unforgettable journey through the history of aviation. Whether you’re an aircraft fan, a history lover, or simply looking for a fun and educational day out, there is something for everyone.

The South Wales Aviation Museum is the perfect day out for all the family, we have something for everyone!

  • Come and take a look at our range of aircraft exhibits and exhibition rooms.

  • We encourage a hands on experience, and some of our cockpits are open for you to climb into.

  • Our volunteers come from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.  They are all very friendly and knowledgeable and are more then happy to answer any questions you have.

  • In addition to the aircraft and exhibition rooms, we also have a fantastic Café upstairs called "The SWAM Café". The cafe's menu ranges from sandwiches and toasties to our well known Lancaster breakfast! Sadly the café isn't wheelchair accessible yet, but one of our lovely staff members will be happy to take your order and serve you downstairs.
