The Story of the Museum

The South Wales Aviation Museum was set up to preserve the rich Aviation History in South Wales to inspire the next generation of aviators and engineers. The museum was a vision of Gary Spoors and John Sparks and was created through the dedication of our amazing volunteers.

We are the largest independent and undercover aircraft museum in Wales. We are based in the heart of South Wales, a few miles from Cardiff.

Our aim is to preserve the rich heritage, people, stories, and history of aviation.

More than just a museum

We offer interactive exhibits and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages. Experience the thrill of flying in our flight simulators, sit in the pilot seat of some exhibits, or take a guided tour. Our knowledgeable volunteers can bring the history of aviation to life with many engaging stories and insights.

We encourage our visitors to interact with the aircraft and exhibits which enables them to have a fully immersive experience.

We are a not for profit charity completely self funded and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the upkeep and running of the museum.

We are open every weekend 10:00am until 4:00pm.
